Helping Things Fall Apart

A sand play therapy training led by Dennis McCarthy

10/28/23
9:30am – 4pm
304 Wall St, Kingston, NY

This training is designed for therapists new to sand play as well as seasoned therapists interested in deepening their understanding of the process. In the context of a safe therapeutic relationship, sand play can help a child strengthen and/or reorganize their defense system. It can be a means of expressing deep emotions that are otherwise inexpressible. Paradoxically, the child often experiences the process with delight.

Dennis has worked with children for over 45 years and was a pioneer in play therapy. He has developed his own approach to sand play that is body centered and imagination driven. It is extremely effective in working with trauma and dysregulation. This training is both didactic and experiential.

Space is very limited.

Cost is $125.

Harnessing the Dragon

Helping Children Heal from Trauma

The dragon is the penultimate symbol of life force for the child. When dysregulated due to trauma, neurology or the many issues that children often struggle with, it can cause enormous problems. When harnessed in the context of a safe therapeutic relationship, it helps the child resolve these issues and move forward in their lives.

Using theory, case material and experiential process, this day long intensive explores a highly successful and dynamic approach to working with traumatized children. The training will be invaluable to teachers, therapists, social workers and SEN staff.
